I saw The Grudge over the weekend and it has to be one of the worst movies i've seen in awhile. The "scary" parts weren't scary or even funny. It was completely boring and the fact the director decided to make us figure out which scenes(murders) took place first, made it worst. Had i known it was rated PG-13 i wouldnt have went in expecting a movie in the class of The Ring ( as they were advertising it). Really, dont waste your time or money.
Yeah, I won tix to see The Grudge for free, and I'm glad because I wouldn't have wanted to pay for it. It wasn't such a great story, and it wasn't too scary, especially with all the little kids (who were probably middle schoolers or freshmen in high school) who actually did get scared, shrieked, and then felt they had to laugh to cover it up.
I got to see an early screening of The Incredibles, and it was great. I would describe it as The X-Men, but more kid-friendly. Of course, I'm 21, and I still liked it. Probably the best movie I've seen this year, with the possible exception of Garden State.
I saw Saw this past weekend and Damn was it good. Its weird the last 3 movies I have seen have all been great. Friday Night Light, Team America, and Saw. I recomend them all.
Saw was NOT a good movie. It was as routine as it gets. I cant stand when the person gets the gun away from the bad guy and doesnt shoot him. I cant stand when the FORMER cop has the bad guy in his sights and yells "FREEZE" letting the bad guy know that he's there and giving him an opportunity to get away. The ending wasn't as shocking as the filmakers wanted it to be. This was a dumb movie. Only those with a poor taste in movies will appreciate this pile of crap.
I agree...Saw was not all it was hyped up to be. It was basically Se7en part II and then again it didn't even have the shock value as Se7en did. There were soooo many loop-holes that could have been fixed but were not even addressed. Also...the only freaky parts in the movie were also in the trailers...so nothing was shocking...not even the ending. The Grudge IMO was a better movie and it was PG-13.
Friday Night Lights was an enjoyable movie but if you have seen Varsity Blues, Any Given Sunday, The Program, etc...it kind of followed them...even though it was based on a true story. One interesting fact on Friday Night Lights...it brought together two actors from SlingBlade: Billy Bob Thorton and Lucas Black (the quarterback who was the little boy in SlingBlade). I also thought it was kind of cool that the last play the offense called in the final game was called SwitchBlade...a nod to SlingBlade perhaps.
I didnt see a review for dawn of the dead yet so...
It was a pretty good movie, but I like zombie movies a lot I didnt think it was quite as good as the original but it was surprisingly close. Scene when there playing the celebrity shootout game is really good.
I recommend it
I saw an advanced screening of The Life Aquatic last night.
It's a little bit more fast-paced than the other Wes Anderson films but it is still pretty badass.
(The snappy dialogue and eclectic characters are what make this movie.)
Also, David Bowie songs are like 75% of the sdtrk.
I obviously love the Royal Tenenbaums, but I can admit that I have gotten a bit sick of watching it over and over again.
This movie was a nice change of pace. If anyone wants to know more about the film, just PM me...
