MANY will disagree but I thought the whole Hartigan storyline was weak.
And yes, I have read the books so I feel justified in that department too.

I don't think the Hartigan story was weak, it's just that the other two are a little more totally fucking awesome.

If I had to pick a weak story out of the three, I definately wouldn't pick the hartigan story or the Marv story. I'd say out of the three, the second story could be consdidered the weakest, but I loved all of them. I just felt more for the other two characters(hartigan and marv.)

Okay, I just read a review that said that Carla Gugino's topless scenes were deleted from the North American release of the movie. Is this true or is the reviewer guy visually impaired?

its from a different comic, the title is slipping my mind but it has something to do with a red dress... not too sure why it was in there but the opening scene was visually stunning so i didnt mind.

The opening scene was cool as hell (especially the fade to the title credits)
but I can see why some would look at it as out-of-place.
Besides the fact that the scene is from a different comic (as hodge pointed out),
I also believe that it was shot as a sort of test for the whole movie.
Robert Rodriguez did the "test" to see if the comics' visual style could be translated onto the big screen.
Anyone that has seen the movie and read the books would certainly say that Rodriguez passed the test...

This is a draawing of Jessica Alba's Character "Nancy". Man I wish They would have convinced her to dress like that.

That pic above ^ begs the question, why did they even cast Jessica Alba for the role? Obviously Alba is hot as fuck and she was good in the movie, but I'm sure there were more "fleshy" options...she is damn hot though.

Saw the film, thought it was brilliant. Really liked Hartigan's tale, at the end I really felt for the guy; what he did and what he had been thorugh for one person. Seemed to me that the other stories were the more action based ones which wasnt a bad thing, and the fight scenes were great.

Definately recommend this film to everyone.

Just one question, why is Marv almost invincible?

I thought it was just a side effect of his "medication".

Just saw it today and was totaly blown away by it. It nailed the feel of Millers comics to a tee. I still liked the idea Rodriguez had, not to make the comics into movies but the movie into the comics. My wife even liked it, but it fulfilled her requirement for movies...

"Somebodys gotta die in the first 10-15 minutes or she loses interest."

(God I married a good one :) )

We even saw a mother and two 10 or 12 yr olds go in before us and by the halfway point in the Marv story she got up and dragged the kids out. Doing the whole whisper yelling at them.
I still want to know how they talked her into taking them to a R movie. I could NEVER talk my parents in to that.

It leads to what happens at the end be cause he is the one in the elevator.

Bump...

Watched The Longest Yard with Adam Sandler over the weekend.. Pretty funny with some great hits and good cameos from a couple of wrestlers.. Aside from the gags though the story followed a simple recognise able formula.. That is Good Guy is down and out but will fight through and prevail.. One side note that I was a little disappointed in was that Courtney Cox only appeared for the first 5 minutes or so.. In that time she had out some major cleavage action and I was wishing she'd return later on again.. Oh well not to be..

Saw Batman Begins yesterday. Awesome. Just awesome. Thank God that got this one right, Christian Bale is the perfect guy for this, just dark and evil and angry. Could have lived without Katie Holmes, she was kind of annoying, but she's not in it enough to bother me, and she's got greast tits. Such a good comic adaptation, 9/10, up there with Spiderman 2 at the top of superhero films (maybe higher, need to watch it again). Bring on the sequel.
