According to Newsweek, the mega superstar, who has managed to keep himself in the news continuously for two months or so, told the German magazine Bild that he enjoys sex.

"Sex is great if you are in a relationship, otherwise I find sex actually not so interesting. Without a relationship it is confusing," Cruise was quoted as saying.

Cruise also commented on his 26-year-old fiancée Katie Holmes: "Our chemistry has clicked. We are alike. I believe I have found the right one. And I want more children."

Touching on deeper topics like death and mortality, Cruise added: "The exterior is only one covering. I believe in rebirth. I do not have a fear of life or death."

Independent Sources has hesitated writing about Tom Cruise/Katie
Holmes for many reasons. First, there are other things going on in the
world that, believe it or not, rank higher on the importance scale.
Second, pretty much everything that can be said is being said.

However, someone (I'll call her Mistress of the Hollywood Rumor) just
walked into Insider's office with the following dish that I feel
compelled to pass on. I did a quick check of Technorati and it wasn't
there. So even if it is not true, it is at least original.

No doubt that anyone with an Internet connection has read about Tom
Cruise being gay. According to rumor lore, he has had a long-time
boyfriend in Chicago who is an Asian pilot for American Airlines. This
is an accusation that Cruise and more importantly Cruise's many
attorneys vehemently deny.

There have been many stories that supposedly corroborate his
sexuality but never a smoking gun. Rumor mongers attribute this
to the fact that Cruise goes to great lengths to cover his tracks. We are told that
everyone around him signs extensive confidentiality contracts with
enormous penalties for indiscretion. (Exhibit A: the 8-page
confidentiality contract Cruise's housekeeper was forced to sign).

Such stories have been around for years and Cruise has evidently
attempted to counter them with a series of high-profile heteronormative
relationships. First, Nicole Kidman, then Penelope Cruz, and most
recently Katie Holmes. In each instance, the "relationship" is actually
a contract that gives the women a boost to their careers, a lot of
money, and an elegant lifestyle.

Here is where this particular rumor gets interesting. Not long ago,
Marisol, the wife of Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas (who has had to
contend with his own rumors of bi-sexuality) found her husband in bed
with Tom Cruise causing Cruise's people to shift into high gear.

First, Mrs. Rob Thomas was bought off for an undetermined sum.
Second, Cruise and his handlers set out to immediately find Cruise a girlfriend.
Second-tier actresses were targeted. A list was drawn up with Jessica
Alba (#1 pick) and three other girls who fell out for various reasons.
Originally targeted (#3 I think) but later rejected as "undesirable" was
rumor queen Lindsay Lohan. Way down at #5 on the list was Katie Holmes,
but that was the one with whom they were able to strike a deal.

Once the contact was signed, photo ops were set up, leaks were made
to the right places, and we've had celebrity relationship on steroids ever
since.

One thing I will credit this rumor for is how it nicely explains
Tom's behavior this past few months-including the couch jumping episode on
Oprah. Cruise simply didn't have time for the Holmes rumors to circulate
at its normal speed and he couldn't allow it to be second page news
while the tabloids focused on Brad, Jennifer and Angelina. No, this
relationship had to immediately become the "it" topic.

Well, that's how we hear it.

Now, women have a better option than the pill to counter unwanted pregnancies, as a contraceptive spray could be a revolutionary new form of birth control for women.

According to the Daily Mail, the once-a-day spray contains a drug that seeps through the skin into the bloodstream. A hand held device is programmed to deliver the same amount of the drug every time on to the forearm. Tests show the spray dries in seconds, forming a waterproof film.

Although it is still at an experimental stage, the spray has been tested on healthy women.

Results show it not only penetrates the skin quickly but maintains a stable supply of contraceptive, rather than the highs and lows that sometimes occur with the Pill.

Because it does not have to be taken at the same time every day, scientists predict it will suit women who often forget to take the Pill.

As the drug it contains is metabolised very quickly by the body, it is also likely to appeal to breast-feeding mothers worried about passing hormones through their milk.

The spray contains a drug called Nestorone, a type of progestogen.

More studies will be needed to test the spray before it can become widely available, a process that is likely to take several years. A spokeswoman for the Family Planning Association said a spray would increase the options for women who wanted new ways to take their contraception.

"The more methods women have to choose from the better," she said.

Britain's SSL International Plc, the maker of Durex condoms, is considering marketing a condom aimed at women after exercising an option to sell a new lubrication technology from Futura Medical Plc.

Futura Medical, a sexual health specialist, said on Wednesday its FLD500 condom stimulated blood flow in the vagina to improve lubrication, providing greater pleasure for women during sex and reducing the risk that condoms might split.

"Durex is no longer a brand associated purely with safer sex, but better sex too," Chris Bunniss, SSL's marketing and innovations director, said in a statement.

Industry experts said a condom marketed at women may have significant potential, because an estimated 40 percent of all condoms sold in the UK are bought by women.

But they said the deal with Futura Medical was no guarantee a new condom would be launched and that any product might be years away.

SSL already holds the rights to distribute Futura Medical's CSD500 device, which incorporates a gel to help men maintain erection during intercourse.

Controversial rapper Lil' Kim was sentenced to a year in prison and a $50,000 fine for lying to a federal judge in a 2001 shootout case involving her friends.

Kim had lied to protect her friends involved in the shootout outside a Manhattan radio station, reports Hollywood.com.

Lil' Kim, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, is the first big-name female artiste to be incarcerated and escaped the 20-year maximum sentence she could have received.

In response to the verdict, the 29-year old singer said: "I have worked hard my entire life for everything I have, everything I have accomplished, I ask you to consider my entire life's work and not just the days in the grand jury and on the witness stand in the courtroom. I'm a god-fearing, good person."

While topless sunbathing is widely practiced in Italy, bottoms are usually required and nudists can face fines of more than $595 on some beaches, the Italian Naturalist Federation said.

But the federation said a poll it commissioned from a mainstream media outlet found nearly 70 percent of those surveyed said they would sunbath nude if everyone else did it. More than 80 percent said nudism was not erotic, but natural.

Women were more frequently bothered by nude sunbathing than men. Just over 40 percent of women said they did not like seeing other naked females on the beach, while just 5 percent of men shared their opinion about nude women.

The survey found nearly two-thirds of men said they weren't bothered by nude male sunbathers.

When it came to unattractive or "brutto" sunbathers, most in the country that champions physical beauty said they didn't object to seeing them naked either.

Gladiator may return but perhaps without Crowe
Russell Crowe's character may have been killed off at the end of the Oscar-winning movie Gladiator, but that doesn't mean there won't be a sequel, Crowe's co-star, Djimon Hounsou, said on Monday.

Crowe won an Oscar for his role as a Roman general who is betrayed by a jealous prince and returns to Rome as a gladiator to seek revenge. Benin-native Hounsou played an African slave who fights alongside him in the Colosseum.

Speaking in New York to promote his latest film The Island, Hounsou said, "definitely the desire is to do a sequel" to Gladiator.

He acknowledged it would be hard for Crowe to return as Maximus given his dramatic death at the end of the first film, but he said producers were still working on the script and casting decisions.

"They're not happy about what they have for now, so they're still working on it. It's still in development," said Hounsou, adding that he expects to reprise his role as Juba. "I would probably be in the centre of it as one of the leads," he said.

Hounsou's breakout role was in Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997. He was nominated for an Oscar in 2004 for best supporting actor for his role in In America.

In The Island he plays a mercenary hunting fugitives from a secret institution that produces human clones.

Even if Gladiator producers were tempted to recall Crowe through a flashback or some other plot device, Hounsou admitted there could be other obstacles.

The original Gladiator, directed by Ridley Scott and released in 2000, took more than $187 million at the box office in the United States.

The New Zealand-born Crowe was arrested last month after an incident in which police say he hurled a telephone at the concierge of the Mercer Street Hotel in Manhattan.

If convicted of assault, he could face up to seven years in prison. Crowe has publicly apologised for the incident and his publicist has said the actor threw the phone against a wall rather than at the concierge.

Pop star Britney Spears is planning to release her five episode reality show, 'Britney + Kevin: chaotic' on DVD, despite its lacklustre ratings during its recent run on American TV.

The show, which will give fans an insight into singer's romance and marriage to Kevin Federline, is scheduled to hit stores on August 23.

Fans who purchase a copy of the DVD will be treated to an additional 30 minutes of previously unseen footage and videos of her tracks, 'Do Something' and 'Someday (I Will Understand), reports ratethemusic.com.
