tape news (in time for Halloween)
LOS ANGELES--(Business Wire)--
Vivid Entertainment, the leading adult film studio, said today it will release
the sexually explicit video "Shauna Sand Exposed" next Wednesday, October 28th
after its "star" withdrew her threat of a lawsuit to block its distribution. The
movie will be available in stores across the country and online at
shopvivid.com.
On October 13th Ms. Sand's attorney threatened to sue Vivid to block release of
the video, which shows her having steamy sex with her ex-boyfriend.
Steven Hirsch, co-chairman of Vivid, said he met with Ms. Sand in his office
last Thursday. "We showed her the documents we had received from a third party
that were authenticated by a handwriting expert and explained that we remained
comfortable that we had the right to distribute the video. Shauna said she
wanted to consult with her attorney and would get back to us the following day."
Hirsch said Ms. Sand called him on Friday and agreed not to pursue a lawsuit
that could prove to be long and expensive. She told him that she was instructing
her attorney to withdraw a cease and desist letter sent to Vivid earlier. "She
said she had deliberated over the best course of action and ultimately decided
to take over this matter herself and to authorize us to release her statement
saying she will, in fact, work with us," he noted.
Ms. Sand said: "I made this video with my ex-boyfriend for our own enjoyment.
But since Vivid obtained a copy and is moving ahead with distribution, I now
feel it will be in my best interest to work with Vivid to make sure it is
handled properly. I'm taking full control of this situation and that means there
won't be any involvement by a third party. I'm proud of the way I look in the
video. My ex-boyfriend was the cameraman, I edited it and added the music and so
I have an interest in the final product."
Meanwhile, Mr. Hirsch said, interest in the video is building on the part of
consumers and the adult video retail sales community. "We've got as much
interest in this video as we have had in any of our other Vivid-Celeb titles,
including Kim Karshashian, Jimi Hendrix and Pamela Anderson," he said.
Sand is the former wife of reality television star Lorenzo Lamas and has
numerous acting credentials to her credit. The video, which shows her having sex
with an ex-boyfriend earlier this year, was obtained by a third party who
brought it to Vivid.
