Well, at least he died doing what he loved. Still sad though.

I saw this when I went to check my yahoo mail. Man that is sad, I was more of a Jeff Corwin fan but it is still a shame. Hope his wife can take care of their 2 kids.

Jeez, thats hard to believe. A stingray barb to the heart! I'll miss him also, he was really passionate about wildlife. I really liked him for that and also hope his wife and kids will be OK. This must be a bit of a shock to the Aussies.

I guess if you do the things Steve did then one day you were going to get seriously hurt or killed.

He pushed the boundaries of his talents and bought the real danger of some of the worlds animals into your living room. He pushed the envelope of nature tv and alas paid the highest price.

I'm sure many people especially his wife and 2 children will feel his loss greatly but they will, at least, have the comfort of a secure financial future unlike so many other widows and orphans.

I bet the crocs in heaven are really watching their tails tonight. RIP Steve

I must say I clicked on this expecting it to be a shit talking thread, not having heard yet. :(

RIP Steve. You'll live on in my own animal conservation efforts.

Also if what I read is correct. It wasn't a slip up when he was pushing his luck, but a freak accident that could have happened to anyone. Stung in the chest swimming over a sting ray. So sad.

Well, I can't say that I am surprised it was more a question of when... not if. A hell of a showman, conservationalist, and charismatic guy. R.I.P. Steve

I read that he and his camaraman unknowingly boxed the stingray in. When boxed in they feel threatened and lash out. They're skittish that way. Just the same I'll miss him on Leno. He was one of Jay's best guests.

I guess there's a bit of a controversy brewing as, apparently, the producers have the whole incident on tape. Some are saying the tape should be published while others say it should be burned. I guess, for my two cents, it should be burned. I'm not sure something like that should be in the public domain. Even though it would be hard not to watch.

I heard they're leaving it up to his wife to decide if it should ever be shown, which I don't think she would want people to see that so it'll probably be burned.
